She did have the surgery. The surgery was an upper endoscopy. They actually probably spent way longer than they would have on her if they'd just found the bone right away! 1.3 hours under general anesthesia is a long time for an upper endoscopy! Just because they didn't retrieve the bone doesn't mean they didn't do the procedure.
