An omen!

When billionaire oil heiress Ivy Getty sealed her marriage to Tobias Engel with a kiss at City Hall in San Francisco, the bridal crown she was wearing fell off her head. It was a moment guests quickly forgot as they were immediately serenaded with Myra's Miracles Happen, from the hit film Princess Diaries, but as Ivy files for divorce after just a few years of marriage, they may reflect it was a moment of foreboding.

Is that what they say when you don’t get a degree?

Probably, but the description is appropriate.

The piece is merely dumbed down thanks to the Q&A structure…I suppose the writer knows her audience?

Two rich kids had a whirlwind romance and subsequently discovered being boring grownups isn’t totz kewl.

One probably wants to have a baby while the other is reluctant?

Or perhaps she found a better prospect?

Heh no, the whole thing is designed to present these people as insufferable.

Exactly! The best shade is subtle!

She has had so much surgery through the years. Her face just has that plastic and over the top look.

Very much the poor little rich girl. Her life just seems so tragic.

Yes! It's awful, unflattering and she looks ridiculous. You can't see her under that silly veil too. I don't like the little girls' dresses either. The wings are too much. Cute little kids don't need that.

What was going on with the headpiece/ veil?

John Gallianos was trying to hide her entirely.

I’m not interested. The wedding was mildly interesting. That was enough.

I thought her wedding looked gorgeous. I loved the dress, the crown, all of it. Yes, it's ridiculously wealthy people being wasteful. But at least it's glorious, beautiful, interesting waste.

I don't care either way about their marriage. I don't know them and I have no idea if this is a tragic turn of events or something they had coming to them -- could be both depending on your angle. But these are just people in photos to me, I'm not invested.

I'm just here for the fashion and the photos. I enjoyed looking at photos of that wedding a hell of a lot more than another tasteful, preppy, high society wedding that looks straight out of Martha Stewart weddings with not a single interesting or surprising choice and zero personality.

It's fantasy. It's supposed to by over the top. The wings on the girls are part of it. It was not about being tasteful or doing something that some UMC DCUM denizen will nod at in approval. It's about doing something that their model/artist/musician trust fund friends will find memorable and interesting. Your distaste for all of it is a feature, not a bug.

Every rich person without a job terms themselves as "philanthropist." It's not polite to say socialite anymore, I guess.
