But proximity carries the most weight. |
|
| ^ Perhaps, but because these are already among the most diverse schools in the state, that isn't a factor. |
| It will all come down to who the new superintendent is, and how much appetite they have for stirring things up vs. making minor changes around the edges. |
Making changes around the edges is sufficient in 90%+ of the cases. There are more important battles to wage than this. |
Minor changes around the edges will create more split articulations. |

If you want your kids in the MS magnet you have to put that into motion by late Fall 5th grade - so now is the time to contact MCPS and ask how to do that.
We were in the TPMS magnet (at the time it was not a lottery after the 1st cut like it is now) and I don't think we would have been happy at TPMS without the magnet program. That's no shade to the school or the kids but specific to what our child needed. |
It's a great program but probably not as significant as some would make out. Yes, math and science go a little deeper and move at a faster pace. It's nice that this is an option, but it would be fine in regular classes, too. My child who went through the program found Spanish to be their hardest class by far. |
Your dumbness is showing by your roll 🙄. Try to understand the "context" before you answer next time. |
Why is "context" in quotation marks? |
To Emphasize. |
|
Same re: the Spanish. I stand by the idea that we wouldn't have been as happy not in the magnet, but part of that is the cohort, which my child really needs to be motivated. Also during the pandemic the teachers and cohort were really strong. Again, non-lottery. |

I would call the office of special programs and ask! They have always been very friendly. They’d send you a link etc.
Einstein is a high school with a strong parent community. Blair is huge but good Those are your two best options, IMO. Look for a house that tracks to one of these Two high schools, and then apply to the 2 middle school magnets Math and science magnet at TPMS humanities magnet at Eastern These are “criteria “ based- MCPS lingo for test in There are other programs you can opt into that are just lotteries - there’s an art one at Loiederman MS, for ex, and an engineering one at Another school I can’t remember the name. Anyway- spend some time on the MCPS website devoted to the DCC and special programs. Good luck! |
| Finding the in East Silver Spring ES area should lock you into tpms -> Blair. No city taxes. |
