Kelly for a boy?

Use it as the middle name.

Not picking on you but this board is so crazy. A poster will bring up a name for say, a girl and get FLAMED that it's a boy's name and it will be a LIFETIME of confusion.

But Kelly may be confused for a girl "at times".

Ok

I absolutely adore that name for a boy! Back in high school, the most popular guy was named Kelly. At first, I found it a bit odd, but he was so incredibly cute and charming that the name quickly won me over. It's amazing how a name can truly embody someone's personality and make them even more appealing. Kelly definitely rocked that name!

PP here. Not sure if it matters, but FWIW he graduated in 2005.

FWIW I went to school with some guys with typical female names like Courtney and Lindsey and they were some of the most popular guys in school.

You do know that Courtney and Lindsey were traditionally boy’s names, right? James and Michael are going the same way.

Its always the parents choice but OP asked for opinions. That seems to be the majority opinion even if yours is different. If I was meeting a Kelly I would be looking for a woman.

I've always loved Kelly for a boy.

I like it - I know 2 male Kellys - though both above 50. That being said, I probably would not do it.

I know a male Kelly, and love the name.

Everyone has to say pronouns. I just don't like the name for boy or girl

Right.... I agree with you. I am just saying that "there will be times when people assume he is female" is a gigantic understatement.

I think Kelly is fine for a boy. As an older gen-x'er, I've known many boy Kelly's (and Shannon and Lindsay) in fact I was just chatting with a male Kelly at church earlier.

I think it might even come back as a male name now that the male Kellys are grandpa age-might get used for grandkids.

I like it!

My husband has a name that makes people assume he is female. He does not like it. Don’t this to your child.
