Or maybe someone is very committed to their end of civilization's fake narrative.

I was just talking to some HCPS teachers about this. They said the system as a whole has gone downhill over the past 10 years. Combination of poor curriculum choices, demographic shifts, and poor fiscal management. Class sizes are huge already and they just did an across the board surplussing of several hundred teachers to resolve increasing costs. Losing several younger teachers who have won awards and are more talented than other long term teachers in the building. The teachers I know that shifted from MCPS to HCPS in the past few years say it has the same general problems that MCPS does - hit or miss admin, random central office initiatives, old buildings that aren’t being upgraded, etc.

LOL. You're joking, right?
MCPS runs circles around both of them in anything academically.

Perfectly said on spec Ed. MCPS academically better than anyone else? Stats don’t back that up. Ranked 5th in the state.

I can attest that FCPS is not a better school district than MCPS. It might be calmer and have less drama; I give it that. I've had a kid in both systems. There are far more programs and opportunities at MCPS. Full stop. That said, FCPS is fine.

If your child attends Whitman, Wootton, Churchill, BCC, Poolesville, Blair, MCPS is better. Otherwise, FCPS is better.

No. FCPS has basically one school worth mentioning: Urbana.
And that school would be middle table in MCPS

Not so fast Moco resident…. I would add Oakdale High Schoolto that list. National blue ribbon award winner for 2022.

No. Definitely not. The programs and advanced classes that are available at MCPS is what makes MCPS kick ass. Doesn't matter what HS. Even at the MS level.

What stats? You may have some ranking on paper saying MCPS is #5 or whatever but academically, none of them can compete with MCPS. MCPS carries the state.

Can’t compare demographics of MCPS & FCPS.it has changed quite a bit over the past 20 years.

Where can I find a nice white, wealthy school system?

I honestly think this is why DCUM considers them “better”.

If you compare stats for similar demographics, it does in fact. The difference is that MCPS is racially and economically more diverse.

Exactly, it's like going back in time 30-40 years to when there was less racial and economic diversity.

As a former FCPS teacher and current MCPS I laugh at some of these comments…

MCPS has some of the most educated parents in the country. It’s not just about the schools but also about the peers and exposure at home etc. MCPS gets a big bump from that on testing, at least in parts of the county.
