Sushi for a large group

Rich enough to live in Chevy Chase. Too poor to serve guests the same food you feed your family. Something isn't adding up.

I live near you and love Kusshi. They will do catering or big assortments on a sushi boat or yacht, which is beautiful and festive. You don’t need to do the picking.

So let me get this straight, you don't want to serve your guests the same quality of food as you'd your own family..? Because you're too cheap and it's "inconvenient"? Hosting a dinner party isn't supposed to be convenient, it's supposed to be an act of generosity.

I'm curious what kind of people approach hosting like this. OP is definitely not Middle Eastern or Asian.

Oh my god, you people are reading a lot into this. I am having 20 people over and don’t want to figure out which rolls to order for which person. It’s hard enough to do that for my family if 4 and I know what they like. I want to find a place that has a sashimi platter, a nigiri platter and a roll platter and I just pick one. I know balducci’s does this, but wanted something better that wouldn’t require me to select 40 individual things on a menu. When I asked about not too expensive, I simply meant I didnt need a 5 star sushi chef to come to my house to make it. I’m not planning to feed people sushi from giant, and mentioned Whole Foods and balducci because I know they cater.

I think every sushi restaurant in town has a platter option.
