The best ones will be at mosques and they will be for free, open to everyone or ask on college campuses what the Muslim kids do because certainly they aren’t making meals. Usually a local restaurant will cater to college kids as free promotion |
| I can't do it anymore...... I 1pm and I am so hungry |
I remember NOVA had MSA, and they will have big events for people who didn't do anything big with the family. This was back in 2007-2010, then I am not sure if Mason had one, because I just never joined the MSA there. |

Don't eat onions and garlic, incorporate mint and Peppermint to your diet, mind dental hygiene, stay hydrated, avoid tobacco, black coffee and alcohol. |
Cinnamon raisin bagel and a bottle of water. You won’t be hungry or thirsty all day . Everyone’s different but I find bagels are the best breakfast for fasting. Donuts or eggs or oats just cause more hunger or thirst. |
Good for first few days to transition into new schedule but after that add some protein if not eggs. |
If you don't feel hunger, its not a fast, its dieting. Fasting help understand how tough poverty can be and how hunger is more than just waiting for next meal to be served. Empathy. |
But if you don’t give food to hungry what is point? |
You do. Feeding (literally or with donations) others is a big part of ramadan. |
| How's it going? Gave up? Overeating? Going strong? |
| Going strong! Healthy protein breakfast and I don’t feel hungry all day. Trying to incorporate more Quran reading and gossip a lot less. I didn’t realize how much I do gossip so working on that too. We just donated zakat and gave extra to orphans fund, schools and the mosque. I’m also trying to have more patience with my kids and spouse and incorporate little acts of kindness. I reached out to an estranged family member to reconcile. |
WOW!! This is the way. |
| I'm dealing with an health issue so physician's orders to skip fast until symptoms are gone but trying to make fasting for family and friends and donating as much as I can to local food bank. Also doing random acts of kindness for non-muslim neighbors, like giving home baked goods and flowering plants for spring planting. What good are we for God, if we can't be good to people around us. |

I will be spending the rest of Ramadan at home. I find the women at my local mosque ridiculous with the complaining and gossiping about the new girls . Apparently , some new convert who asked for charitable donations to get an apartment had a Gucci scarf on and the Muslim doctor she works for dropped her off in a Benz so these women were in A frenzy theorizing like professors trying to track down the plate number and if the guys married. I’m the same race as the doctor whom I don’t know and they asked me if I could find anything out and let them know.
Ridiculous. Why even fast if you’re on a busybody gossip hunt? |
