I remember reading on one of the report cards they had maybe the highest recess or outdoor time for any public school in Dc? Like, 113 minutes per day or something? They have a whole forested area they play in, and three different playgrounds. They also have a garden, and seem to do a lot of outdoor classroom time. They are almost always outside for the last 30 minutes of the day before pick up time, so when I get my kid early I go straight to the playground. |
I found this- the number I remembered was actually 156 minutes/week for PE. https://schoolreportcard.dc.gov/lea/160/school/1117/report Not the same as your question, but I do remember this being highlighted because it's the highest of all DC public schools'; PE is almost always outdoors. As an example you can see for one of the other best public schools, Stoddert, it's at 56 minutes of PE/week: https://schoolreportcard.dc.gov/lea/160/school/1117/report I searched Janney and Mann and they were at 90-95 minutes of PE/week. I don't see any data on actual outdoor time. |
