Should a pre-school teacher return to work after 4 days with Covid?

Kids go to school with covid, so what's the difference? Both kids and teachers go to school sick (covid, colds, flu, etc.).

This! Your child could get sick from a peer too, not just the teacher

We don't test anymore. You can't kids life afraid of one virus. It's a damn virus. You'll never rid it or hide effectively from it as long as you're not a hermit! Doesn't matter your age!

The replies here are disturbing. If you're position a rapid test, you're contagious.

Despite the majority of people being in total denial at this point, covid is far more harmful than the flu or a cold, and it's also far more contagious.

It's a biohazard level 3. Would you also like your children to be exposed to tuberculosis at school?

Each infection is a roll of the dice vs long covid. How many times are you going to let your kids be exposed to this virus?

How many kids need to have lasting damage before we start being smart about clean air and staying home while sick?

There’s another active thread right now criticizing “absentee” teachers for taking leave.

We really can’t win. Should we stay home and protect the kids, or come in and teach them? (Does what WE need even matter?)

If and when governmentally funded covid leave is provided, I’ll support staying home for 5-10 days when nominally sick. Until then, I support teachers (and parents) not losing their jobs.

Yep. Where do you think she got it? I catch something once a month practically. I’m not burning my sick leave unless forced. I prefer to save sick leave for mental health days.

I would be pissed if my preschooler caught covid from their teacher returning to soon. My elderly MIL lives with us, and if she catches covid from our preschooler, it could mean an early death

You have to make some choices-MIL should be vaccinated first of all. Second, you either have to choose to isolate your dc, keep them home and don't do preschool, or understand that the child will possibly bring home all kinds of illness.

I have elderly parents who choose to watch my dc after school and choose to get vaccinated for covid, flu, shingles, ect. I have told them that I understand and would support if they didn't want to watch dc, to cut down on exposure, but they want to and choose to. It's all about the choices we make-you can't avoid covid if your dc is in school (and if you work outside the home).

Also, what school tells parents if a child or teacher has covid?

OR. Or……
Don’t have your child bear the brunt of keeping Grammy alive. The MIL can wear a mask full time just like kids were forced to do in schools.
She is the grown up with health issues, for the love of god let the child have a carefree existence without the guilt that she will kill her grandmother by going to school.

SARS-CoV-2 is a biohazard safety level three (BSL-3) pathogen--like tuberculosis

Adults in BSL-3 laboratories are required to have a number of protections we don't give to children's BSL-3 classrooms

No absolutely not. You need to stay home at least 2 months. Especially for pre-school. This is very widely known,

As long as the teacher has been fever free for 24 hours and isn't hacking and coughing or something like that, then I would be fine with her going back in. Fact is, she probably got it from one of the kids, so they've all been exposed already, and you know none of those kids are going to be kept home longer than necessary.

Still have to mask up if you leave isolation.
