Should a pre-school teacher return to work after 4 days with Covid?

The experts are ok with spreading a contagious disease that has serious consequences for some of us.

So we don’t listen to the experts? We just do our own research?

The "experts" have caved to peer pressure.

I would be pissed if my preschooler caught covid from their teacher returning to soon. My elderly MIL lives with us, and if she catches covid from our preschooler, it could mean an early death

Yes if they’re symptom free without a fever. The new recommendation is 24 hrs without fever or when feeling better.

Yes she can return to work. No parents shouldn’t be told.

Believe the science! Except now. Now it’s peer pressure.

Unfortunately, the elderly are at risk from all types of infections your child can bring home from school. Covid is not unique.

You didn’t believe the science and now you want to.

You have to make some choices-MIL should be vaccinated first of all. Second, you either have to choose to isolate your dc, keep them home and don't do preschool, or understand that the child will possibly bring home all kinds of illness.

I have elderly parents who choose to watch my dc after school and choose to get vaccinated for covid, flu, shingles, ect. I have told them that I understand and would support if they didn't want to watch dc, to cut down on exposure, but they want to and choose to. It's all about the choices we make-you can't avoid covid if your dc is in school (and if you work outside the home).

Also, what school tells parents if a child or teacher has covid?

I feel bad for the teacher and wish she could stay home longer!
Otherwise fine

I'm a before/after school age program teacher, and I recently caught covid for the first time - spent the last 8 years working in healthcare and only had one upper respiratory illness that whole time because we mask when illness is going around.

I took 5 days of unpaid leave to recover from covid, but I'm still testing positive so I'm wearing a mask every day because I don't want to give it to anyone else, even if they gave it to me in the first place.

This is one point on which we could learn something from high population density Asian countries where it has been the standard for 20+ years to mask during the cold/flu season if feeling ill in any regard. It is a courteous thing to do in a caring society.

There is no longer any extra sick leave for people staying home due to COVID, so I wouldn't demand that a teacher burn their precious leave if they are otherwise feeling well enough to teach. At least the teacher would be more likely to wear as mask than are PK students.

We aren't notifed of classroom cases anymore. I messaged classroom families when my kid was sick. Half the parents were thanked me and half were surprised that I bothered to test at all.

I wish we would all try to reduce infection, but the government is prioritizing economic activity over public health.

If you think you are contagious you should stay home, not rely on a mask.
