It's a tragedy how badly that school has been managed. The county leaves the school to handle a steady influx of newly arrived children, many of whom have not had formal schooling, and then punishes Justice when the kids inevitably drop out. They tried for years to establish an independent facility that would accommodate those students, but the county refused. Dump the problem on the school, and then threaten to take its accreditation. (Let me be clear, this is not to rage against immigration, it is to point out that the burden is not equally shared across the county).

I want to send my child there one day. I pay 26k a year in taxes. How can a county with Langley, McLean, and TJ continue to turn their back on this mess of a situation?

Mason District elects some of the most far-left politicians in the county. Maybe ask them to enforce the housing codes, cooperate with federal immigration officials, and set up a separate school-within-a-school for kids who arrive with little schooling and can't speak English. All Mason officials know how to do is demand more money even though the spending per pupil at Justice is much higher than at other schools.

What's your proof that she was a "DEI hire"? It's a racist statement to claim that any Black principal hired is a "DEI hire."

She'd been at several low-income schools in Houston, so presumably had at least some experience relevant to a majority-FARMS high school in Fairfax County.

She may not have worked out well - it's hard to quibble with those who called out her response to the Justice student's overdose as inappropriate and tone-deaf - but her shortcomings are her own.

Parents are always "included" in hiring process but it does not matter what teachers or parents think. It's decided by the county.
