The traffic in this location is going to be insane. You’ll be immediately adjacent to the new shopping center development that will draw a lot of people in cars because it isn’t near Metro. There will only be one or two ways in and out of this development. You also get cut through traffic from people bouncing from River Road to Massachusetts Ave and vice versa. Plus, there will be more housing (condos) going up on the other side of the shopping center.
Sooner or later all of this density is going to attract crime as well.
I am actually looking forward to shopping at the new Westbard, but I wouldn’t want to live right next to it.

I live in a 60-unit EYA community built 25 years ago, and ours is about $125.

What happens when the entire roof needs to be replace or other capital improvement?

Since they are TH’s roof replacement would be up to individual owners. Capital replacements should be funded thru the HOA which would be putting aside some portion of those fees.

You people only think about your cars in life. What a sad existence, for real. You’d expect all these types of posts are written by car dealership owners

Written by someone who doesn’t have to deal with traffic, no doubt.

There was already a lot of crime from the aquatic nexus of that pool store and the aquarium store.

Hmm. This comment seems fishy to me.

Roof replacement is the responsibility of each owner for townhouses. We have had big road repair and drainage projects, and they've all been funded through reserves. And our reserves are still huge.

Umm, density does not equal crime. Crime usually happens in locations that are more convenient -- like close to bus stations, shopping malls, metro stations -- or with active nightlife (like bars and restaurants). This is none of those things.

It's like saying that the Crate & Barrel, Wagshal's, and Starbucks in Spring Valley/AU Park will be hotbeds of crime because it's dense around those areas. Just not based in reality.

They haven’t even released pricing or started selling. I think sales start March or even later.

Well, I certainly hope that proves to be the case. As I said, I look forward to shopping there. I just wouldn’t want to live there.

The Whole Foods across River Road from the Westbard development recently installed banks of very bright lights in its surface parking lot. I don’t know that it is a response to crime in the parking lot (I have never had a problem there), but it did make me think about it.

Isn’t an eloquent townhouse an oxymoron?

Yes, that bothers me. As do all the wires and power lines along Westbard. Why didn't they bury them while they were doing this massive development? It makes that whole street look so ugly.
