Maybe a few years back. I'm sure now with ECNL RL they would consider LMVSC again. Maybe those that are left out of GA at SYC. |
RL games around here are ugly with the unlimited substitutions. Boring watching the time wasting tactics. |
Soccer Ranking App results agree with your assessment. My kid plays on a top GA team. Not in the DC area. But I do wish the new DC GA clubs all the best. However we will stomp on you if you make it to finals.
The top GA clubs/teams are on par with the better ECNL clubs. There's still a couple of ECNL superclub/superteams that beat everyone but what are you going to do about that? Those clubs arent in the DC area so it doesn't matter. After being in youth soccer for 10 years I can identify a good club or team independent of league in a matter of minutes. The best clubs consistently pressure players to be the best. All teams in all age groups will play with a similar style. Recruitment at the younger ages is what makes consistant quality coached clubs able to win in the olders. |
Maybe the girls who leave because they can't make top Gunston teams. While DD was at Gunston, her team lost 5 to SYC, 1 to Arlington and none to LMVSC. I think 4 of those 5 were playing ECNL last year. |
Definitely not the case. LMVSC has beaten Gunston, SYC and Alexandria in this age group. I don't know about Arlington. |
I think you misunderstood PPs comment. They were refering to number of players lost to those clubs. Not results. |
| Does LMVSC have teams at every age? Do they have an 08 boys team? |
This. They didn't get into ENCL-RL a couple years back because of this. Overall, this move does nothing. The continuous re-shuffle of clubs between ccl and vpsl/ecnl-rl has never meant anything to anyone. LMVSC will not attract or lose players because of this move. If anything, the clubs bothered by this will be Arlington/Loudoun types who will probably win 90% of games against a club like LMVSC and usually by high margins. |
GFR is famous for this. Subbing endlessly in the second half |
I remember in U littles, they scored a go ahead goal in a tournament championship and proceeded to do a five minute goalie change on the field complete with the exiting goalie taking forever to fit the new goalie with gloves |
| I wonder why VPSL is reluctant to add sub rules to their league. At the least do it U15+ if not U13+ |
As a coach, I wonder what your thoughts are on the Soccer Rankings app, which uses actual game results (facts and data) to compare teams using a formula applied uniformly across different teams and leagues. The quantitative results in that app rank teams pretty well, and those rankings align to your qualitative assessment and feelings (ECNL > GA > ECRL). And before somebody gives a single game result as an example of why the model is broken, you obviously have to acknowledge that "statistics" allows for this and concepts like a standard distribution curve is the reason that "on any given day" is a thing. (Before someone suggests otherwise, GotSoccer is worthless and doesn't follow the same approach to analyze teams as close to objectively as possible.) |
Coaches aren't going to comment on the Soccer Rankings App because it ranks teams independent of league. This means it doesn't support or reject the leagues their clubs play in. The only problem with the rankings app is the more teams play each other the more accurate it becomes. The less teams play each other the less accurate it becomes. But overall it's decent at ranking youth teams. Much better than got soccer. Actually, just thought of one other issue. If your kids team plays and wins in a league with several other teams that are highly ranked it's easier to stay highly ranked. If your team is really good but plays in a league with mostly lower ranked teams you'll need to beat them by as many goals as possible to maintain a high ranking. Or you have to play and win against highly ranked teams in tournaments. |
Curious why you think that is an issue? If a team is in a more difficult league and maintains competitive score lines, doesn't that make sense? And if a team is really good but in a lesser league, shouldn't they need to have a pretty high GD to show that they don't belong? |
| My favorite part of the app is the club rankings, which i guess is based on the individual team rankings. LMVSC is ranked #29 in the state. SYC is #3!!! But they're all ahead of #32 ranked Brave. #math |
