Nobody is seeking exact values on an online forum, just estimation of overall trends.

On the contrary, this is exactly where I share accurate information! If I tell my wife how much we are worth, she'd want to go out and buy diamonds. If I tell family, they'd want a loan. If I tell friends, they will be jealous. Who better to share this with than anonymous people on the internet?

Home equity: $500k
Retirement accts: $650k
Savings: $60k
529: $21k

I'm eligible for a pension of $60k/year. That's worth about $1.5m.
Spouse it's eligible for a pension of $50k/year; that's worth $1.25m.

We're both planning to work until 65ish, but

Will you also be eligible for SS along with your pension? If so, you are well set for retirement.

Anonymous wrote:USNews and a lot of CFPs recommend 6x your annual salary by 50. But according to the federal government, must Americans at this age are far below that amount, while the highest income Americans (over 200k) have at least that, which skews the average amount saved by 50 above the median. Most banks and news organizations report the data collected by the government on this regularly. Asking random people on the internet is not likely to be accurate.

6x your annual salary is not a good way to calculate the ideal number.

Better to calculate expenses and go from there.

1.5 million total, with everything. House, retirement, savings.

56 years old.

$1.7M in real estate equity
$1.4M in retirement savings

Almost done saving for private school and college, and saving $200K a year in retirement for the next few years. But we'll likely have to sell the house and downsize because no significant pension. Husband is older and would be retired already if we had saved more responsibly.

We are early 60s and early retired. Net worth as of today is $7.3 million. Living very very well.

both 57 at 8M...it was the same when we retired 2 2 years ago. It went down with the market dip and now it's back at 8M again.
