Ours stopped doing that this year too (Harvest Fest instead of Halloween, Kindness Day instead of Valentines) yet they are still giving out valentines at Kindness Day. They banned costumes on Halloween but we still have to give out love-themed cards to people they barely care about at 10 years old. It's so weird. I was so hoping that Valentines would be banned this year but nope--thank goodness for Amazon. |
It has always been option in every one of my kids' classes. In K-2, everyone did it. Thereafter, the boys started dropping off more and more with each passing grade. Don't push it OP. |
| I think if it's something that is part of a school event (e.g., they asked everyone to bring these), I would pressure him to do them. Ultimately, I'd say that if he doesn't, he can't keep the candy/trinkets he gets from others. If he truly doesn't care, that's fine; but if he wants to get candy, he gives candy. |
