If you are a balding / thinning hair woman…

I've been fortunate, but this runs in my mom's family. I have a lot of cousins with it and one of my sisters has it but not severely. She pulls back her hair in short pony and that seems to obscure it enough.

I have curly hair and started a low dose in August. When the new hairs started growing in, my hair almost immediately had a ton more volume and it was harder to see my scalp through my hair. I would have been happy even with just that change.

Since then the hairs are getting longer and I'm now at a stage where my hair has good volume but there are straggly curly ends where the new growth hasn't reached yet. It's still better than where it started because of the added fullness. I recently added a few shorter layers on top to cut off some of the straggly bits, but it's not a complete solve. It will be good when the new growth gets a bit longer and I can get a chop to clean it all up, but I need to be patient. It is growing and filling in. It just takes time.

I just talked to my derm about the oral Rogaine route. She warned me about facial hair. Has that been anyone’s experience?

Topical minoxidil for me, for years. Once a day, but I forget a lot. If I forget for a few days I notice more hair on the floor of the shower.

Interesting. Pulling my hair back makes it look worse, and my ponytail is the thickness of my pinkie despite shoulder length hair.

Np and oral minoxidil user. Yes, I have more chin hairs and peach fuzz, but that’s easy to take care of. I also now have longer and fuller eyelashes and fuller eyebrows. On balance it’s 10000% worth it for me. I haven’t seen much improvement on my scalp yet, but it’s still early (2 months in).

I'm 6 months in with no issue re facial hair and significant improvement on my head.

I take 1/4th of a pill (0.625mg), and I am happy with the regrowth. I am a small person, maybe that's why lower-than-average dose is effective, with a tiny bit of facial fuzz plus some eyebrow regrowth. The first few months=increased shedding, followed by very little shedding.
