| I would just tell the truth. I live close by and like to go home to eat lunch. Nbd. I mean its kind of weird to do it every day and I echo the person asking how do you walk 2 miles and eat within 60 minutes, but if youre not missing something at work, then who cares. |

Honestly, one of the reasons I enjoy working remotely from home is having access to my own kitchen to prepare and eat lunch. It’s just so much easier! I can see the appeal of going home for lunch if you live near the office.
Agree with others that people should get to do what they want and go where they want while on a lunch break, without having to report on it to coworkers, boss, etc. |
+1 to all of this. 1mi means a 3min drive or maybe a 15-20min walk each way. That's plenty of time to drive or walk home and eat. I had a colleague who used to do that. |
| "Why do you ask?" followed by a long, unblinking stare. |

Are you taking longed than the hour?
I used to run errands during lunch. Half the time, I ate at my desk and basically worked through lunch. Other times I may take a walk with a coworker or grab lunch close by. Then when I ran an errand, I tried to come back within an hour but it could take 1 hour 10 min. |
Obvious you are goofing off if you have this much free time during a middle of work day. |
God forbid someone use their lunch hour to eat lunch. |
She is preparing a gourmet lunch at lunch time. In office folks prepare food night before on their own time |
+2 Back when I worked in an office with a set lunch hour, I would go for a walk around the neighborhood and stop somewhere to eat my packed lunch. If my home were close enough I would absolutely head home. |
So those in office people who prepared lunch the night before eat their bag lunch in 5 minutes and get 55 minutes to go do errands or chill, while PP takes 45 minutes to prepare her gourmet meal, 10 minutes to eat, and 5 minutes to wash dishes. It's all good. |
You clearly don’t know how to cook. |
