Can we stop using the words "hubby" "veggie" "yummy" "goodie" and their ilk?

why would people describe Obama as photogenic just because he's black (or bi-racial, whatever)? I get your point about the other quotes but photogenic and dynamic?

My children refer to me as Hubby's Yummy Veggie Mommie, but that doesn't mean I call myself that when conversing with adults, online or in person.

PP here: buy the way I'm not a fan of hubby or veggie either.
And what's up with all the people taking the time to write what a loser you think the OP is. If you think this is such a lame thread then don't read it! Get a life yourself!

Agree with you here. Yeah, Obama is ambitious because basically he doesn't have much experience but obviously he's going for the top. He is indeed photogenic (personally I just think that's a polite way of saying he's good looking) and dynamic...yeah. Hillary is not dynamic like Obama is. He's a guy who really inspires, and has that eloquent type of speech that really makes an impression. I don't think when people say that, that it has anything at all to do with him being black. It's just the truth.

Okay, here are my pet peeve words:

Parm (as in, "Ya havin' the chicken parm, hon?")
Doc (as in, "Doc says it will be 2 weeks before it's healed...same goes for meds)
Digs (as in, "You should see my new digs")
Mod (my mother STILL uses this word)

But my greatest pet peeve language wise is when people use the phrase "very unique".

Okay, I have to say that I have read A LOT of DCUM posts and for some reason, this one is cracking me up. I especially like the parking lot turn of events. Good stuff.
Oh, and I can't stand "hubby" either, and for some reason prefer to type out husband, son, etc. versus DH, DS. Really, is it that much more trouble? That said, I'm also not big on nickname or shortening friend's names when referring to them to them or talking to them (i.e., "Nic" instead of "Nicole" or whatever...). I guess I'm boring in that way.

As an editor, "synergy" drives me crazy. So does "incentivize." Sorry if I'm misspelling that.

Or "robust" used like, "we have a robust lacrosse program."

And "very" anything makes me suspicious - thank you previous poster for reminding me. And "nice" doesn't mean anything to me.

oh geez! I also can't stand the word robust! ha ha

Not a fan of the word "nursing" and also can't stand when someone says "we put her (or goes down) down for the evning around 8". It sounds like putting an animal to sleep.
Also irritated when the pronoun "we" is used when referring to a woman's pregnancy. i.e we are expecting in 6 months. Sorry men, it isn't about you this time!

I wish people would stop using the word ilk on this board.

I work at a large company and I really don't like the word "synergy." Seems like a word used by senior management to spend beaucoup bucks to come across as if they were doing something which ends in NO results, except in losing a few billion dollars.

I hate the words "thrilled" and "thriving" . They are incredibly annoying. I just cannot imagine any normal youngish (meaning 25- 45) year old using them.

I don't like the word thriving - like a baby is a flower, or something.

I hate the word "panty" or "panties". I don't know why - it just skeeves me out!

I don't call my husband DH or hubby, but I do on my cell or online, simply because its faster to type/text.

And what is an ILK?
