Do all kids at FCPS receive a new laptop?

Probably not new. My kid's battery would die after an hour, even on the dimmest light. She was able to swap the battery but the whole machine has seen better days.

My Oakton HS student got a Chromebook this year and the battery is soooo much better than the old laptops they used.

FCPS does not use Chromebooks.

You get a computer, but it is returned at the end of each year and you are given a new one the following year.

Our old district gave you a Chromebook in 5th that stayed with you.

Indeed they are cheaper. So much so that they cannot be used in one of my kid’s classes due to lack of functionality. We have now bought him a separate laptop so he can use that for some of his coursework.
