Did you travel year end 2023/into 2024 without getting Covid?

I went to Hawaii over winter break and did not get covid. I had 3 shots then plus covid in August 2022.
I feel like more people had the flu and I didn't get the flu either. I had the flu shot this fall.

No one on the trip with me got covid (8 people total).

Travelled a ton. Just like always. Didn’t do anything special. I had Covid once in late 2021; got it in DC.

My DH and I haven't gotten it. I do feel lucky.

We didn't get together with family or anything for Christmas, which I'm glad about, because SIL came down with Covid -- we might have gotten from her if we'd seen them. We did go to the Ritz Carlton's NYE party, but the tables were pretty far apart and we were at a table with friends of ours -- another couple -- and that's it. I'm glad we didn't catch Covid there. DH is in an office at work, with not too many people in and out of it. He did have to do an overnight trip for work a week ago that involved a short flight though. I work in a clinical environment where most are wearing masks and I sanitize my hands quite a bit. I work with med students and we are giving an entire class an exam this week and so far out of about 100 students or so I'm only aware of one missing the exam due to illness, and I don't know if that was Covid or not. DH and I both take the metro.

So we haven't contracted it. But we are probably lucky we haven't.

Seems to be everywhere and lots of people coming off holiday trips said they got it.

Yes. Flew international Dec 15-26, and from east coast to west coast and back Jan 10-15. I wear a mask in the airport and on the plane. No eating on the plane, drink water with a straw through the mask. No covid

BS you flew international and didn't eat and only drank through a straw. But good virtue signaling.

Travelled mid Dec without issue. Family got sick with a flu a couple weeks later.

We didn’t take an precautions when traveling. I think it’s mostly luck

I fly internationally every couple weeks. I saw someone do this on a flight a couple months ago. Clearly not sick, type A and anxious to the point of almost jumping up and down in the seat. She could not handle that she was the only one. I hope she has gotten the needed mental health supports.

Two weeks in Denmark and Germany in November/December. Never got COVID as far as I know.

Only people I saw masking were Americans on the plane going over and that was only maybe three or four people.

I was in dense crowds in Germany at the Christmas markets just about every night.

Survived to tell the tale!

Everyone I know who went on a cruise last fall 2023 came back with Covid.

My family visited the UK last fall and came back with a bad and annoying cold. In fact, got sick in the middle of the trip.

So my advice is hand washing of course but also wear a mask at the airport, on the plane and in crowded places.

London was beyond packed even just walking down the street, with smokers blowing their smoke everywhere. That smoke also had their dirty germs and I’m convinced that’s how my family ended up sick. Filthy London smoker people. Ugh

Went to the Bahamas over Christmas with family (10 people in total) and none of us got it.

Traveled over Christmas break to Denmark/Germany and we did not get covid.

I didn’t travel and caught it just after new year’s. I did one indoor event that week so it had to be from that. And I don’t regret it because it’s impossible to totally avoid. Wash hands, take general precautions (a good mask if you’re inclined in crowded places). But also a healthy dose of acceptance helps!

Had several coworkers come back with Covid last year after being on Mediterranean cruises.

My tip is that you pack any meds you may need to recover from a cold/flu/Covid, with you for your trip. We were in Europe and got sick and thankfully there were tons of pharmacies open everywhere for us to get medicine from. But that may not be the case everywhere you go, or at all times of year since many towns shut down for holidays or in the evenings.

Here’s what we had to buy for the colds we caught during our trip:

-Claritin (hotel room was dusty and triggered allergy sneezing)
-Lemsip (basically like Airborne or Emergen-C tablets that dissolve in water and fizzy)
-Cough-Decongestant medicine
-Tylenol
-Nasal spray

This helped us manage the symptoms as best we could, and of course we adjusted our plans and rested as needed.
