Going to go on Ozempic (without insurance) and have a few questions

Anonymous
Food noise was gone almost instantly. Meaning, watching TV in the evenings with spouse, who would get up and make a bowl of ice cream or some other dessert and ask me if I wanted some, and the answer was no.

Lost 45 pounds over the course of a year. Have been off for one month, so far so good. And, I am terrified about gaining it back, but so far so good. Taking it one day at a time

I'm hoping to get a prescription soon. In my workweek, I have big days (lots of standing/walking, very public facing) tuesdays and thursdays and am mostly at a computer (and could work from home if needed) on other days. Thus, I'd like to time the shots so side effects tend to be lowest on Tues/Thurs.

Advice? (Wondering about the delay between the shot and the nausea, etc.).

I have this same question.

I’m assuming the digestive side effects are right after the shot, but how about fatigue? Is that constant or just right after the shot?

And does the benefit wear off towards the end of week? Significantly?

My worst side effects were in the mornings 1-3 days after injections. It helped some to have dinner early in the evening.

Honestly I wouldn’t start this medication or increase your dose if you have a huge week at work.

That said, I just had an hour or two of throwing up and then I was fine. I never missed work or anything. And after a few months those side effects went away.

NP here. I do the shot on Saturday night, because if I was to be tired or have stomach upset it would be on sunday. Although I have actually never vomited and have had minimal stomach upset, and maybe a touch of fatigue but I mean I tend to be tired by Sunday afternoon anyways. So Saturday night has worked well for me.

Why did your insurance stop covering it? I could see insurance companies increasing the BMI to qualify, at least until generics are available in the 2030s.

Everybody and every body are different. I am the pp who was on it for one year, I have zero side effects (gave myself injection every Sunday morning). No nausea, no fatigue, no wearing off from the benefit, just not that hungry and the weight melted off. Yes, I watched what I ate and cut out the junk (and the alcohol), but this was way more effective than any other diet I tried

It sounds like you are no longer on it. What's happening now? Do you overeat/having food cravings?

I've only been off it about 1 month. So far so good, no crazy cravings and no weight gain. I still weigh myself every morning

After 7 months, the "food noise" has returned. I'm really upset about that.

Is there any recommendation for that situation? (Which it seems happens most of the time?). Like a maintenance dosage?

I'm the one who has been off for 1 month. My doc told me there isn't a maintenance dose of Wegovy (what I took for a year), and that if my weight shot up to a BMI of 27, I could go back on it.

27 or 37?

You have another health issue?

I would recommend taking the shot Thursday night before bed. I don't feel side effects until two days later, but could be anywhere from 1-3 days after. Also, if you have bad side effects, try a different injection location and see if that helps. Stomach injections made me very nauseous, but I only have fatigue after thigh injections. Hope this helps.
