LA Innocence Project takes up notorious case of convicted wife-killer Scott Peterson

It just seems so odd that any young husband would murder his pregnant wife. Was he in another relationship?

Yes, he was cheating on her. And he killed her.

Yes, he definitely was in another relationship.

Her body was found without her head or feet.

That was from decomposing in the ocean, though. And he just happened to go on that solo fishing trip on Christmas Eve morning, definitely not dumping her body. Totally coincedental!

Anyway I have always thought he was guilty but I also think it is a slippery slope to base guilt on circumstantial evidence only theoretically.

So I also look forward to any new developments in the case.

Yes, that's a good way of putting it. I think I always had a little doubt here or there, perhaps not a reasonable doubt, but without a slam dunk my mind was always open to some other possibilities.

I hope the Innocence Project is doing this because they actually believe he's innocent rather than a procedural issue or technicality. I have donated money to orgs similar to the Innocence Project in the past and the standard is typically a belief in innocence, which is not the same thing as believing someone did not get a fair trial.

As someone else previously mentioned, the one thing I have a very hard time getting past is that Laci and her unborn child's body showed up in the area exactly where Scott went fishing. This was nowhere near their house. There wasn't much logical reason for him to be fishing far from home, alone, on a holiday (I think?), in bad conditions, other than to establish an alibi. The belief was that he never anticipated that the bodies would show up. If there was another killer(s), the chances of them taking her body to the same location are slim to none.

Why did Scott not hand out the missing person flyers and leave them in the trunk of his car? He never went looking for her. And what motive would someone have to kill a pregnant lady?

I could be wrong, but when a young pregnant woman is killed, statistically, their partner is guilty the vast majority of the time. And domestic violence is the #1 most common health problem for pregnant women.

NP. This is true.

Agree.

This. Plus the affair and the timing of the boat trip. COME ON.

She was a very kind + seemingly logical woman who seemed stable emotionally to me, but I admit once Scott was accused of murder I believed that he did it & started questioning this woman’s common sense.

She moved from San Diego shortly after he was convicted but prior I do recall her saying only great things about Laci so I knew that she wasn’t biased in her belief.
At least that is what I hope!

Anyway I have always thought he was guilty but I also think it is a slippery slope to base guilt on circumstantial evidence only theoretically.

Scott Peterson’s entire family stood staunchly behind him all along. Larry King said that his father paid over 7 figures for Mark Geragos’s fees. I still remember the crowd jeering at the parents as they exited the courthouse after the verdict was announced.

They're delusional about Scott. Wouldn't be the first time.

He didn’t do it. The creepy guys with the van did it. The truth will come out.

"Scott Peterson filing says Laci witnessed a crime and was killed to “shut her up,” and those responsible framed her husband."

Trying to link this to her witnessing a burglary across the street is insane. Petty burglars are going to murder a near-term pregnant woman? The only one with a plausible, concrete motive was Scott.

He slept with Amber Frey on their first “date” while his wife was heavily pregnant.
