Is California affordable now?

Anonymous
No, California is still definitely super expensive.

From rents/mortgages ->> food, gas, etc. it co$t$ an arm…..no two arms (!!) and two legs just to live here.

Yes your entire body overall.
Unless you choose to live in the armpit of the state which is the horrendous city of Bakersfield (Bakeland!) where the summers are scorching, no beaches exist practically + there are only fields to look at.
Lol.

But for the most part > CA is extremely beautiful all year round.
It hardly ever rains there.
And there is so much to see and do there too.
Plus the people are very friendly and the food is so good❣️

My cousin is a law firm partner and can’t afford to buy in the Bay Area.

That’s untrue. Only one ones with high fire hazard risk have issues.

Same! we moved from Laguna Beach to Dana Point 4 years ago. Used to say we moved so we could afford to finally buy a house, now we're saying we could not afford to buy our house today if we tried. Every time I go back "home" to Bethesda I'm in awe at how much house you get for $1.6M-$2M. The difference is quite significant.

This is such a load of crap, absolutely untrue! I've been a CA resident for 12 years and have never had my insurance canceled or threatened to be canceled or not renewed. This is why you cannot believe everything you hear/read.

That’s because the insurance company cannot cancel or refuse to renew, but they can refuse to issue a new policy for a house buyer.

They can’t afford a basic 1-1.5mm house on a 500k to 1mm+ profit draw?

Mmmm....homes here are selling left and right WITH mortgages. Most, if not all standard lenders require insurance. So how is it happening that a buyer can close on their home purchase if no insurance company will issue a new policy for said buyer?

In Upland, which is a quaint town with a Metrolink train station near the Claremont colleges, attractive mid-century ranch homes are still well under a million. The district’s only junior high and high school are both highly sought after as well.

And I believe the light rail is planned to extend to downtown Upland and the Ontario Airport as well.
