ABSOLUTELY best resort in Cancun area?

Rosewood Mayakoba. We have also stayed at Banyan Tree, Nizuc, XCaret and the newly opened Hyatt. I liked Rosewood best.

Very upscale, and huge kids park/water park.

Considering the Fairmont Mayakoba but not sure if we should stay next to the beach or further up but be closer to restaurants etc

I thought Fairmont is the “least” luxurious in Mayakoba?

I know this isn’t your question, but I looked into Fairmont and Rosewood Mayakoba last year (Rosewood definitely looks nicer!), and what concerned me about the resorts was (1) how huge they are, so you have to really make sure that your room is in a good location for your top priorities (beach for us), and (2) how insular the resorts are- it seemed as if it would feel you were in a generic resort set anywhere versus in Mexico.

That’s not a bug, that’s a feature.

You can use golf cart service or bicycles to get around.
