ABSOLUTELY best resort in Cancun area?

Looking for an absolutely best resort in Cancun or surrounding area…most expensive and best money can buy for family of 4, kids are 4 6 yo.

Considering the Fairmont Mayakoba but not sure if we should stay next to the beach or further up but be closer to restaurants etc

I loved Westin Lagunamar. Villas had hot tubs and showers, kitchenette fully furnished, nice balconies, and full programming for kids and concierge planned the whole trip for us and arranged everything from meals, babysitting to transportation. Also, an upscale mall is across the street and we got live performances and good restaurants. Taco Grill was delicious!

We were at the Fairmont Mayakoba last Winter Break. Every day started with the sound of the sea and a relaxed breakfast on my balcony. The room was big and comfortable, especially the bed - it was like sleeping on a cloud. The huge windows let in loads of light, making the place feel open and connected to the beautiful views outside.

The food at the resort was amazing. For breakfast, I could have anything from fresh fruit to fancy pastries, and the coffee was always perfect. Dinner was a laid-back but luxurious affair, with lots of fresh, local ingredients. It was like having a top-notch restaurant right at my doorstep.

Staying at the Fairmont Mayakoba felt like living the high life, but without any fuss. There were loads of cool things to do, like taking a yacht out or getting a massage, and I loved how they cared about the environment. It wasn’t just a holiday, it was like stepping into a world of easy-going luxury.

Rosewood Mayakoba. Hands down most luxurious resort in Mayakoba and Cancun area.

The Xcaret park has a wonderful evening variety show. There is a horseriding demo show that's cool and the Pre-Columbian dance show is amazing.

I believe there's also a Cirque du Soleil dinner theater experience somewhere on the Riviera Maya.

I like spectacles more than spas. I would enjoy the Xcaret hotel.

The hotel is much more upscale than the park. The swim up rooms are particularly impressive, with limestone cliffs and underwater caves. It's unlike any other resort I've ever visited.

We are at the Edition at Kanai right now. Previously stayed in Mayakoba. Kanai is absolutely stunning.
