I hid some presents

And well this year DS2 woke up at dawn and opened the wrong Lego set so now I don’t have anything for their cousin when he comes over
just rewrap it and tell your kid to be more careful about what he tears into.

This is a treasured part of our christmases! Every year my mom would come down one day in February or March and announce that she found a Christmas present under her bed, in the hall closet, in the attic, etc. usually wrapped. Sometimes it was missing a tag and she would ponder who it might have been for. We always had fun with the “forgotten gift”.
Roll with it, OP.

I do this every year. I found fishing line months later and that ended up going in my son’s stocking this year, a year late. Once I found little kid lip balm in the drawer under my bed. I never took it out and sometimes I see it and reminds me of when my daughter was so little. I know it’s silly to keep it there but I do.

My mom found a fisher price garage when we were teenagers….

I’ve had so much going on that I started shopping early, I know I moved them at one point (big mistake) and wrapped two early as well (another big mistake) They are small items so that makes looking for them more difficult. I’m so sad thinking I accidentally threw them out. And they were expensive too. Kids are older so won’t be up for at least another 30 mins and I asked DH to go look in the trash. He said he needed 10 more minutes of sleep.

My sister did this every year and when she died a large box of wrapped gifts was found with name stickers. It was actually kind of nice because she passed away in early Nov. And my nieces gave us the hidden gifts at Christmas.

Op, did you find it?!
I always check the first place I thought it might be again and again and again (my mom’s great advice). It’s often there, but I somehow miss it, until I don’t…

I can't find the stocking candy. I hid it too well.

Ugh. Why do you do this? My mom always apologizes at Christmas she bought me things she never actually “finds” and gives me. She always says she has things for me that never materialize.

So fun. I haven’t received an actual gift in years.

It was so fun today when she not only did this, but asked me to remind her what she lost-gave me-will never give me, because she forgot what this fictional item even is.

Grow up.

I’m missing a book I bought my daughter too. The really sad part is I bought it 2 days ago. I remember thinking I didn’t have to hide it that well since it was just for a day or two! No idea where it is.

Not the op, but I found my son's missing presents this evening after he'd already opened the others. They were in a black garbage bag in the trunk of my car.

Same here. My mom would always forget something!

OP here, thanks for making me laugh. Appreciated all the positive spins on the situation. After rummaging through the recycling while everyone slept I resigned myself to them being lost or thrown out and decided not to mention anything. Midway through opening gifts an unwrapped brown box appeared under the tree and inside was everythIng I was missing. I have no memory of putting these gifts in a box or putting it under the tree.
