I think it’s a little like telling wealthy people that McDonald’s is the #1 restaurant in America. It is according to several measures, but to people who regularly dine at different types of establishments that seems ridiculous. |
Not only toward BASIS. The massive bickering in the private school forum is phenomenal and quite amusing. |
Which DCUM forum should I read if I don’t want to find bickering? No matter what I read there are always posters making provocative posts just to generate controversy |
LOL, you would have us believe that the college/university and public school forums contain less bickering? |
I’m sorry. Why do you keep dragging the public school forums into this? |
I don’t think you see the same kind of bickering - would be hard to find parents on the public school forum similar to Potomac parents in that they try to knock down other schools for the sake of claiming their kids’ school is better. Not quite the same level of insecurity over there. |
Providing context is "dragging"? No bickering here, am I right? https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1133252.page https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1123051.page https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1131875.page |
Potomac parents would never bicker about their own school like that. Too insecure to break the facade that it’s perfect |
| There will be bickering on the private school forum as long as the public school folk are posting here |
|
Claiming that criticism must equate to jealousy instead of substantive objections is both childish and a logical fallacy.
BIM parents, ask your kids who took the Logic class what that means. They understand it far better than most of you. BTW, do you think it really looks good for the school to come on DCUM for the 47th time to cheerlead while others rip the story to shreds? Guess what - not. |
Who said anything about jealousy? Hope Potomac teaches your DC reading comprehension better than whatever you had as a kid. |

I'm not a private school parent, my kids are FCPS and are going to stay that way. I am just here because I notice that once or twice a year someone posts this exact same thing about BASIS McLean and it's high ratings. I assume it's the school trying to get people to apply?
If I may make a suggestion to you? You would probably have better luck if you posted about: (1) if you provide financial aid to upper middle class families. I just looked and $36,800 is a lot of money. (2) What the difference is between your school and the BASIS charter schools because I always thought BASIS was just poorly run DC charter schools until I saw these posts. (3) What makes your curriculum different or better than other schools |
GDS literally had an article about it in the Washingtonian. |
