I have no idea since this is our first kid in high school, but kid hated virtual learning and would rather take it in person. |
My kid is class of 2025, and I just got an email from MCPS about this today, basically outlining their options for getting Health B in before graduation. It said they won’t charge Class of 2025 for summer health classes. It didn’t say explicitly, but the implication seemed to be that the classes behind 2025 will have to pay for summer health. But it also said nobody has to pay for the online course during the school year. Doesn’t sound like they’ll be offering in-person summer health, just online. |
About 30% |
Most kids do PE in 9th, some do it later but get it over with. Summer for health ed. |
Interesting as we didn't get one. Guess we are paying. |
I would bump that up to at least 60% |
The email is posted above. If your student is in the class of '25 and has not yet taken Health B, you should have received it |
That email looked to me like it was differentiating been taking through MCPS (free) and taking through Montgomery college (maybe not always free?) |
As I read it, the MCPS summer health classes this year will be free only for class of 2025. MC’s DE course is free for MCPS students during the school year (as are all DE courses); but if you take DE classes in the summer you have to pay, regardless of graduation year. |
The email said you were receiving it because you had a student graduating in 2025 who had not yet taken Health B. |
I heard it from my child's guidance counselor. |
Is there a precedent for this? |
Yes. They always charged pre pandemic. |
| Is the MC DE course the same? |
My 2026 kid did horribly with virtual learning over Covid but preferred the virtual health class since it was less embarrassing. Had an excellent teacher. |
