They should be *able* to make the bed. If they pay rent, they should have the option to close their bedroom door and not make the bed if they choose.
Of course it is not rude to expect all household members to share the chores. If he won't share the upkeep of the house, he shouldn't be allowed to live there. |

Gotta be honest, OP: there would have been no need to ask this question in the first place had you trained your son to make his bed when he was five and reinforced the idea that being a member of a given household entails age/developmentally appropriate responsibilities that benefit the whole household, a message that boys/young men especially need to learn. |
