I live in VA and I work for a municipal government and I know the code. It doesn't matter if OP only allows her child to sleep in a windowless room for 10 minutes or a month--if there is a fire and fireman can't get in, baby will most likely die of smoke inhalation If you live in VA and you have a windowless room, without a closet, and a regulation size window then you are in violation of the VA fire code. I sincerely hope none of your children are sleeping in these rooms.

you are the reason people make fun of gov't workers. please do yourself (and all of us) a favor and stop posting. you remind me of a lincoln quote: it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt. please, oh please, stop posting and opening your mouth. i do appreciate your ill-placed concern for my children, though.

NP. I sincerely hope that all of you who are comfortable with your children sleeping in a windowless *room* never have a fire or another emergency where the entrance to your child's room is blocked.

I agree with PP. And why would someone be a fool for pointing out a legitimate safety concern? A response calling someone a fool for pointing out a safety concern is just ignorant. And I'm offended by the remark about govt workers too. But I'll let that one go.

I think that angry poster probably just realized she has been putting her children in harms way for a long time, and is just very, very defensive about it. We all must be stupid idiots, right, because the alternative is that she has been breaking the law and placing her children in harm's way in the interest of saving a buck. No, we all must just be fools for thinking that bedrooms must be safe.

We used Mythic Paint, bought at Ace Hardware. They color matched several Benjamin Moore colors. No odor at all. DD slept in the room that night. She has allergies and was not affected at all.
