We get it; you want to live in a police state.

We get it. You want to live in dystopia.
If you believe you're living in a dystopia now, you need a therapist and medication.

Oh hun, I'm not the one who thinks common sense gun laws equals "living in a police state." And who probably thinks she needs to have an arsenal at home to feel safe. Therapy and medication would be VERY helpful for your oversized anxiety and fears.

There were definitely a variety of multi shot guns at the time that functioned identically to current semiautomatic firearms

FFS, spend 10 seconds doing an internet search.

+1. And most people do not. That is why “nothing happened”.

NP...

It's pretty dystopian that we allow people with known psychiatric issues to go out and buy military weaponry, extended mags and a thousand rounds of ammo.

It's pretty dystopian that we don't any way to track the straw buyers turning cities into war zones by flooding the streets with guns

It's pretty dystopian that we don't care if people are allowed to modify their guns to fire 800 rounds per minute

It's pretty dystopian that some heavily armed nutjob can go into a school and gun down a couple dozen kids and teachers and we just shrug and glibly say "tots and pears, nothing can be done"

That's all pretty sick... and I'm definitely not the one with the psychiatric problem here.
Federal Law. Under 18 U.S.C. § 922(d), it is unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person “has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution.

And look, it's pretty clear that you want to live in a police state so you should just be honest about it. Although, you probably also want to defend the police, so what you're really lobbying for is something that looks like Escape From New York.

Who said anything about an arsenal or feeling safe? I just like having a handful of guns and don't want that right infringed upon because some of them look scary to progressives And did you see the study released last year showing that 50% of progressive women have some sort of mental illness? Crazy right?

Well if some common sense laws develop and you have to scale back your handful a little the world will continue to spin.

Was Adam Lanza ever "adjudicated as a mental defective"? I don't think so. He had mental health issues but I don't think that meets the definition of "mental defective."
What exactly does that mean? Like most laws, there is lots of gray area. Thus, it makes it very difficult to get guns away from people who should not have them.

I have been wondering about Peter Lanza (father) and what his life has been like since then. I can't imagine...

We have common sense gun laws. Weak on crime prosecutors just don't enforce them because reasons.

Sounds like the Reagan-era decimation of mental health care in the US needs to be reversed.

No, Sandy Hook has shown the REPUBLICANS care more about Special Interest than kids. They are the ones blocking any reform. They are the one’s whose holiday cards are with their families holding assault rifles, they are the ones who berate teens for wanting gun control. Please stop with the Both Sides. This lays at the feet of Republicans and Republicans only. Vote accordingly.

From 2014, so the opposite of up to date, but he seems like he’s a decently thoughtful person. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/03/17/the-reckoning

They are really less safe since the gun nuts doubled down when they felt threatened.
