So - would you respond “so what?” to a whites-only, public officials party?

The tired "gotcha-fails" of the ignorant.

Not PP but in the government it is very inappropriate to have an event that is either restricted to one race or seemingly excludes other races. It's ok to have a party celebrating specific diversity so long as it's open to everyone.

Congressional Black Caucus

Is this supposed to be a serious response? CBC is a political association. One of the few areas where it is perfectly legal to discriminate on any basis. CBC is not an official government role or function. The Boston mayor, in her capacity as Mayor, appears to be throwing a government party for members of certain races only. This is blatantly illegal. Any comparison to the CBC is comparing apples to bike tires.

What is wrong with excluding people on the basis of the color of their skin? (is a rhetorical question I would like to ask the mayor).

Wasn’t her campaign largely financed by The Open Society Foundations ?

Looks like the Alphabet people are not inclusive after all. They are keeping out the letter W.

Good Q.

What makes Mayor Wu believe she is a person of color? Most people of color wouldn’t see her as one of them.

And she would not qualify for any sort of minority scholarship anywhere. Just the opposite.

More importantly, the CBC doesn't do things like this. White people are invited to their holiday party and other events.

What about pansexual? Why isn't there a P in there? I demand a P.

Let's just call it the alphabet people.
That way, it is all-inclusive.

How many elements of Harvard's Power and Control wheel does this violate?

This flies in the face of being a melting pot.

See thread on whether America is a melting pot in the Off Topic forum.

Sigh.
