I would add to the bolded we have had some really good students come in from Robert Frost and Cabin John middle schools. I have worked at two private high schools. |
This is great! We know that a school can change in the span of 8 years from when you start in Kindergarten but Im finding that things don’t change that much! Thank you! |
| Not to derail the thread, but kids who start at 4 or 5 and struggle academically get canceled out by HS. The ones who are doing well stay through HS, so it's not true that they're not as impressive. In fact, as someone who teaches in a competitive independent high school, my observation is that they often are better prepared because they've come up through the system and are used to meeting the school's high expectations. Even the talented students who come from less academically oriented K-8s do fine too, although the first year might be tougher for them than for those who come out of more traditional programs (Catholic, public, rigorous K-8s). |
