Are there any parochial schools or K-8 or even public schools in the DMV area that consistently send kids who are very well-prepared to your school?
We are looking at schools and thought it would be valuable to get feedback on the other side to see where to start (yes we know lots can change in 8 years)! Thank you! |
| Admissions person here. We get kids who are very well prepared from Christ Episcopal School (CES) in Rockville and many of the feeder middle schools in the 'W' school zone and from Deal (DC). |
| HS Admin here. Woods Academy, Christ Episcopal, St. Elizabeth's, North Bethesda, Rosa Parks, Blessed Sacrament, St. Bernadette's |
| Holy Trinity Georgetown, Friends Community School, Woods Academy, Blessed Sacrament. |
| Norwood. Not an admissions person, but someone who went through HS placement multiple times and we always ask this question during parent interviews: How do Norwood students fare at your school? Are they academically prepared? And the answer is always that they are very well prepared and are great community members too. |
PS - Forgot to add - our kids were both 100% prepared for their Big 3 |
|
This is helpful! How about Northern Virginia schools? Both parochial and privates!
Thank you! |
The students we knew at our Big 3 that had come from Little Langley in McLean we all very prepared, nice kids, nice families. And, the HOS at Little Langley is great. |
Christ Episcopal LOL no. Another admin here. W school zone and Deal absolutely. |
Parochial schools sure if you want a kid indoctrinated and not taught science |
Ignorant bigot alert! |
I don't understand this trolling? Is this driven by ignorance or hate? Catholicism isn't evangelicalism. The Church has long recognized evolution, the big bang, etc. |
Is it driven by ignorance or hate? Probably both. Catholic schools teach excellent and main stream science. The inventor of the big bang theory was a Catholic priest, and evolution is absolutely accepted and taught in Catholic schools. But some really stupid and hateful people don't choose to know or believe that. |

Okay ENOUGH with the trolling! As the OP, can we get back to the question and ignore the trolls (ps I went to Catholic school my whole life and I am a doctor and I have always been taught evolution thought out elementary/highschool and was a Bio major at Dukeā¦)
The question is as a highschool admin/admissions, which k-8 parochial/private schools do a great job at preparing their student for high school and beyond |
| Are there any that don't prepare kids for high school? |
