What are the odds of seeing this in DC? Miami, sure, but DC, never in a million years.
I have several pieces from Farm Rio and they look fabulous on. All of my pieces are very heavy cotton. And yes, do you see this in DC, maybe not your community, but there are plenty of black and brown women in DC. Farm Rio is from Brazil, why would they design for a limited aesthetic?
PP here. I AM brown, have lived in NW DC for 30 years, and would be surprised to see this in DC aside from a themed summer party.
You are not from the part of DC where people dress this way. This aesthetic would look perfectly at home at an even at the Atlas Performing Arts center during Fringe Fest, or at Union Market, or at Culture House or any of dozens of venues around the city where the crowd is mostly black and brown and the vibe is multi-cultural and vibrant.
I don't spend much time in upper NW but when I do go, it's notable how much more neutral and conservatively people dress.
