Could we really hear/feel that here?

This doesn’t sound safe at all. Why is it even allowed?

You do realize MCB Quantico is a major training installation for the Marine Corps? OCS and TBS.
Consider it the sound of freedom.

Heard and felt it in Rockville, Md! That seems crazy- so far!

Anyone else in MoCo?

The Darnestown FB page is reporting booms today too.

Just checked Maps - Darnestown is 53 miles from Quantico (driving, might be a bit less as the crow flies).

Wow.

Feeling it in N. Arlington – windows rattling.

Good to know. It sounded like someone was trying to break in and I couldn’t investigate at the time!

The sound waves or percussion travels better when it's overcast. I used to hear/feel it in Fairfax Station, worse on cloudy and damp days, but now live in Arlington. Can't believe it comes all the way up here!

Heard it in Bethesda.

Sounded different than typical Ft Meyer/Arlington Cemetery activities.

Heard it in 22201.

Wow, they shook my home's foundation in AU Park.
There were two distinct booms. The slate ceiling tiles of my home actually rattled.

I absently thought to myself, "I wonder if I should start driving. Am I going to be hit by a nuclear blast?"

Which part isn't safe? Exactly where should they be doing these highly supervised and heavily controlled exercises? I live 30 miles from a major marine base, I can hear when they're doing their ordinance exercises and sometimes feel it - never has it been a concern not to me or to our neighbors.

I am new to this area. But this sounds like an OSHA violation.

Someone should report this, and get it shut down.

JFC, where would be alright with you for the military to practice doing it’s job?

But the Marine base is here, not in some plains state.

Wouldn’t you rather have them here where they can protect DC than out in Kansas somewhere?

I've been hearing it in Bethesda along the river. Thought it was construction nearby.
