It's easier for women than men to be good looking. That's bad for women in the dating market.

I think in general, I disagree with you OP.
My somewhat random thoughts…

What I think of attractiveness in a man, I think of sexiness, charming, confidence…Lots of guys that I think were attractive ARE not the most hanndsome men.

I think most men, if choosing a “trophy” wife would want her to be pretty and thin and young. I think most women just want a good looking, nicely dressed l, presentable man who can be older or younger, masculine or not, dad bod or athletic, hair or not, etc.

It seems that the parameters of beauty for a woman are a lot more narrow than they are for men.

I see a lot more unconventionally handsome men with beautiful women. I rarely see the opposite.

The vast majority of the partnered women I know are with men who are less attractive than they are.

I would say this is true for appearance only. HOWEVER 1) women are less visually-shallow and choose partners for other reasons besides looks; 2) men can make up for this with education, status or money, therefore evening the playing field.
