It is absolutely this. |
Easy answer: If a liberal extremist does it, it’s justified. If I did it, Greta Thugburg would fly halfway across the world to stand in front of my house and scream I’m killing the planet. So it depends who’s doing the flying as to whether it’s good or bad for Mother Earth. |
Rich people fly (most of them private) to the desert in on of the least environmentally conscious countries on the planet to tell us how much they care about the environment. At least Dubai is honest about their goals while hosting "The United Arab Emirates planned to use its role as the host of UN climate talks as an opportunity to strike oil and gas deals, the BBC has learned. Leaked briefing documents reveal plans to discuss fossil fuel deals with 15 nations." https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-67508331 Maybe Bowser will get an LNG terminal on the Potomac? |
But at least the private jet set is traveling on their own considerable dime. Bowser is traveling on the taxpayer, for a purpose that seems frivolous compared to the very real problems on her plate. Remember that when she wants to raise income tax rates further and residential assessments because the commercial lease market (and related tax revenue) are under pressure. |

This could all work out if the Mayor is bringing back UAE crime fighting tips to DC.
Sharia Law is no joke. Lashing, stoning, cutting off limbs, black prisons. They really love the LGTBQ community in Dubai. |
Bingo. |
| The crime will still be here when she returns. |

Illegal immigration is simply not a thing in the middle east and UAE in particular. If you don't have your documents, you get put in jail until they can out you back on a plane to wherever you came from.
Maybe the mayor will bring back some immigration policy. |
I lived in Abu Dhabi (UAE as well). You need to show your residency paperwork to do ANYTHING in the Middle East. You cannot get a mobile phone, set up electricity at your house, rent a house, or get internet service without residency paperwork. If you don't have paperwork, the police will escort you home and give you an opportunity to retrieve it. If you don't have it, you are sent home on the next available flight IF you do not get locked up while they are determining where you are from. If UAE thinks you are abusing your tourist visa and staying for an extended period of time, you will get locked up. |
It’s a waste or taxpayer money and shows that the mayor has become arrogant and is losing touch politically. |
Will decline? Or confirmation that they already have? |
