| I know a male Shea and a female Shay. |
| Dang! I just had a baby girl a couple months ago. I would have sooo used this name. Adding it to my list for baby #2 =) |
| Surprised this got to page 2 before someone mentioned the Mets. It’s not bad but that’s what I think of first. |
No. |
| I figured the Shay spelling is to try to prevent people from thinking "shea butter" or it's a shortened form of Shayna ("pretty" in Yiddish). Or I assume Shea or Shay is a last-name-turned-first-name (Irish). |
| I know a girl named Shay. I like the name and prefer that spelling because I don't have to think about how it's pronounced. |

Just keep in mind that it's often going to be pronounced as "She-ah" when someone reads it for the first time.
And that your kid is going to have to go through life spelling their first name out. |
| I went to college with a cool woman named Shani. Just throwing it out there. |
| Chipper Jones, who played 3B for the Braves named a son Shea, because Shea Stadium was his favorite to play in. |
| It’s my son’s middle name. It’s a family name for us (last name of Irish origin). |

Really? It’s giving me old money vibes.[/quote] Really? Meet my kids: Livingston, Betsy, Muffy, Chip, and Shea? |
I mean are you Irish or naw |
Why wouldn’t you want a common name? It’s so weird to seek out something obscure. |
