Do you wash your pre washed lettuce with the vinegar again?

The spinach / spring mix has to be soaked in the vinegar water. Even though it’s pre washed. I just don’t get it. Why does it need to be soaked?

Just tell her you washed it and don’t. She sounds stupid.

Next time potluck—she can bring salad

Btw washing meat spreads contamination all over your kitchen, you should stop doing this

Rinsing it is smart, unless you plan to cook it (eg, spinach), but the vinegar is unnecessary. Water is fine.

She sounds like she believes everything she reads on the internet.

Go by what the government/public health professionals recommend.

OP here.
She micromanages everything and don’t trust anything or anyone. I used to read vents from this forum before and never quite understand. Now I get it how small things can make stressful especially during holidays.

I dont even wash it with water LOL.
I figure if it doesnt kill listeria or whatever bacteria I'm just wasting time.

I'm curious, OP, does the SIL ever eat out at a restaurant, or eat takeout or other prepared-by-others foods? Because there is no way they are doing the vinegar thing she is expecting you to do.
I would put my foot down. I wouldn't cook for her.

I half heartedly rinse my not pre-washed lettuce under the faucet for a few seconds. And sometimes not even that, soooo. I’d laugh at my SIL and tell her she’s welcome to do whatever she likes with the lettuce, let me know when she’s done making the salad.

She’s mentally ill. Ignore. She doesn’t have to eat the salad.

I’m kind of a dick so I’d probably concern troll too if it persisted. I’d act super confused. “Larla, what are you talking about? The lettuce is clean. I don’t need to rinse it in apple cider vinegar. You seem really fixated on this. Are you okay? My therapist is great with these kind of anxiety issues, let me know if you want his office number.”

You should always wash your lettuce. There are videos of lettuce being dug up from the earth and bagged right in the field. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cooking/comments/nak2mu/no_matter_what_the_pack_says_wash_the_veggies/

Triple washed, torn salad mixes are not being prepared and packaged in the fields. You must be talking about lettuce that’s still intact. That needs to be rinsed thoroughly.

I think her request is excessive, but she’s right not to trust anyone. People like PP flat out lie.

Strawberries, grapes, romaine lettuce worth washing with vinegar or without. But trippled washed salad mix and spinach is not necessary to wash imho.

You are always supposed to rinse the bagged lettuce. https://www.today.com/health/recall/wegmans-recall-kale-microgreens-salmonella-rcna63593

If you tell me to wash triple-washed lettuce then yeah, I’m going to lie. 🤣

Not only for greens, even meat has to be washed with vinegar before cooking. She is crazzyy. Next time she comes to visit, I’m just going away for a week.

Why doesn't she just drink a glass of ACV after each meal? Seems more efficient.
