How do we get the USAO to do their jobs and put career criminals in prison?

+1,000. So much of this crime wave is driven by people between 15-25 years old. People need to remember Racine’s impact on the current crime crisis when he eventually re-emerges to run for some other elective office. How convenient for him that he left OAG just as the results of his policies have come to bear.

I kept thinking there would be some course correction but no sign. Armed robberies in daylight in Adams Morgan Thanksgiving weekend, multiple shootings in downtown, including Dupont, a snatched at gunpoint Frenchie in Brookland and the Council proposes "media vouchers."

As more leave, perhaps shrinking coffers will trigger a change.

Between the crime and the unenforced traffic laws and the nonfunctional 911 call center, it is genuinely dangerous here.

A Republican ran against Frumin who I can only presume would have been better on crime. I voted R, but Frumin won Obviously my neighbors were unable to hold their noses and vote R. Maybe next time? Or recall Frumin?

The republican ran a very weak campaign almost solely on opposition to bike lanes.

The complete breakdown in the system, perhaps driven by ideology, is stunning. The impact on the city, public safety and quality of life in just a few years has been tremendous. Yet, no sign of a course correction yet. The USAO functioned fairly consistently, and in range of other D cities prior to 2017. Since, it is a complete outlier. A lot of the staff are detailed there for a year, perhaps sending law and order types with some trial experience would be a small start? As would eliminating prosecutorial discretion. The PDS judges are more of a challenge but a plan needs to be devised to prevent them from just rolling to another 15 year term. That is the pressure point.
