We are only 7 people this year (yay!) and I'm the only cook, except one dish, so its going to be relatively simple.
crudite, cheese, crackers during the afternoon... Turkey breast (trying the NYT buttermilk brine) with gravy cranberry/orange relish southern cornbread stuffing (baked on side) roasted brussel sprouts, maybe with lardons spinach salad with walnuts, goat cheese and dried cherries--or maybe just a plain green salad, sometimes less is more. mashed potatoes (if DH makes) pumpkin pie and apple pie with vanilla ice cream pomegranate spritz and some lighter red wine...tbd |
This sounds phenomenal!! |
we often dont do turkey although we are this year.... I think the best T day was when had a lot of vegetarians and so we did 3 kinds of lasagna--the butternut squash lasagne (made with marscapone as well as ricotta and mozzarella) and spinach was to die for! We also did a wild mushroom and a meat one. We didn't make much else--salad, vegetable, pie, because its soo filling. |

Do you have a recipe for the sagey white bean patties? |
What does this mean, you saying black people don’t eat pumpkin pie? Has to be sweet potato pie? I thought pumpkin pie was universally American. My parents are East Asian and we always had pumpkin and pecan. |

Guys I’m spatchcocking the turkey this year! I might mush some herbed butter under the skin too. Cutting the spine out of a turkey and pushing its breast down to crack the ribs was really gross for me this morning and mildly traumatic for DH.
-Spatchcocked dry brined turkey -Mashed potatoes (Should I boil them in milk? Never tried) -Martha’s mac and cheese -Jiffy corn pudding -Broccoli cranberry salad -Sausage dressing -Garlic green beans -Citrus pecan cranberry sauce -Gravy -2 or 3 kinds of pie provided by MIL, with whipped cream and ice cream -wine, beer, sparkling grapefruit soda |

Spicy carrot soup
Mashed potatoes Stuffing Green beans with shallots Cranberry sauce Rolls Chocolate dessert I’m cooking for just our small immediate family this year, we’re all vegetarian and one kid doesn’t like any of the Thanksgiving foods except for rolls and cranberry sauce, so it’s a small menu. |

Apps: shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, veggies abs some sort of dip. Idk. Haven’t shopped yet so just kind of making it up.
Turkey Gravy Cranberry-orange sauce Mashed potatoes Sweet potato casserole Macaroni and cheese Green beans with garlic and butter Roasted lemon broccoli Corn casserole (with Jiffy mix) Kale salad with dried cranberries Probably some kind of wild rice or barley salad because why not add more carbs Whatever else inspires me as I’m grocery shopping… I cook everything and only let other people do desserts, which is a win-win for me because desserts are a pain in the rear and I don’t like them anyway. 😉 |
Ummmm ... this sounds delicious. Can you post the recipe? |
