This is as dumb as saying exposure to Covid makes your body stronger

Different people prefer different temperatures. Surprising that is news to you.

So they need to gloat about it so someone will give them a medal?

This is the foolishness of someone who's single(male). It wouldn't fly for a family or couple.

Heat is on at our place.

I'll go backpacking and tent camping when it's below 20F, I've been out hiking in weather cold enough to get a video of throwing a cup of boiling water into the air and seeing it freeze before it hits the ground, I've seen the northern lights several times, and I've gone swimming in the lake of a glacier runoff. But when I'm home, I want to be comfortable in a t shirt.

No, but we keep our place at about max 69.

Our house is 69 degrees right now and we haven’t turned the heat on yet, even though it’s 32 outside. This is one of the lesser known positives of living in an old brick rowhouse. They are amazingly insulated.

My home is set to 72 in the summer and 74 in the winter.

NP - I’m curious why you set it colder in summer and warmer in winter. Aren’t you wearing lighter-weight clothes in the summer and heavier weight in the winter? For me, that means setting the temperature warmer in the summer and still being comfortable. I’d love to know why you find the opposite better!

Not if kids are involved. If no kids, knock yourself out!

Have had it on for at least a month now - when it became cool enough not to need AC. It’s on thermostat, so really has been turning on occasionally during early hours when it’s coolest at night. It’s been at least a week when temperature have been in low 30’s here at night. 57 is by no means confortable especially if you have young kids.

This is just the opposite of the person who loves having their windows open on an 80 degree day.

this is why i designed my heat to run off the boiler, which runs every day to make hot water. i would much rather find out about a problem immediately, not when everyone is turning their heat on.

we've used a few hours of heat in the last two weeks

What a stupid thread. In Frederick, it was 27 when I woke up yesterday. It would have been in the 40s in the house without heat. I work so I can provide basic necessities for myself and my children.

The dampness gets the cold in my bones.

Once it got to 65 I turned radiators on.

Yep, and/or they have an interior apartment or condo being heated by the neighbors. Especially the ones saying the temp in their home has not gotten below the mid 60’s without any heat running. That’s impossible on a detached home.
