Can you have a dinner conversation with your mildly ASD/ADHD kid?

I'd be happy if mine scarfed down food and ran. Instead, he's up and down and up and down throughout the meal. Barely eats. After everyone is done, he has gone off an started on something else, and I ask him to take his plate to the sink. "Oh, I'm not done," he says. Leaves the plate until he goes to bed. Arg!
