What constitutes dating in middle school?

Its mostly a non event (texting, group hang outs and a lot of drama) and just for bragging rights, lasts a few short weeks.

Towards end of 8th it can be a bit more involved and sexual for some kids. My daughter knows some who were having sex in 8th grade, and it does tend to be the kids who dated in 6th and 7th, as this ramps up the more confident they get with dating.

I will say that my daughter is a sophomore and I’d say runs with a “fast crowd” and a small minority of even her crowd was having sex in 8th, but the majority had by end of freshman year, which was surprising to me.
