School for Friends in NW DC takes 3Y+ in diapers and will help with toilet training (but they don't start til 8am). In our experience, it was fine for kids in DCPS PK3 to not be fully toileting yet and the teachers helped get them there. |
As others have said, most montessori schools meet kids where they are and don't have potty training cutoffs. We love our kids' school, Falls Church Montessori and it offers full day hours (7:00 am - 6:00 pm). They helped one kid potty train and getting ready to support the other one. |
Northeast Stars Montessori in Capitol Hill and Alexandria starts at 2 years old. They potty train and each child has their own individualized education and potty-training plan. Montessori schools are about the individual child and creating lesson plans to fit each child's specific need and areas of interest. |
It sounds like you’re looking for a wonderful place for your son, and I’d love to recommend Crossroads Child Development Center. We’re located in Alexandria and have loving, patient, and experienced teachers who are fantastic with 3-year-olds, including helping with potty training.
Our classrooms are small and nurturing, and we focus on making every child feel supported as they learn and grow. Plus, we’re not too far from the areas you mentioned—definitely worth checking out!
