That's 10 hours and way too long for a 3 yr. old.

Where do you think the child should go the rest of the time the parents are at work?

They should stagger their schedules.

What? That’s not a preschool.

Preschool can be full day.
Kids can start going prek at age 3 or 4. Before that they should be with a nanny or a small family child care home(family daycare)
Still pre k is too much for young kids. Imo.

OP you need a small daycare or a nanny. Both will love your kid and teach potty training.

Or have you tried the weekend potty training? Parents needs to teach thier kids to use the potty

Most daycare providers are preschool teachers and have thier little schools at home. I prefer a small group.

Public schools are loud, busy already for young kids.

The Hill School takes 3 yr olds who are still in diapers. But I don’t think you’ll get 7-5, more like 9-3.

Are you looking at DC Public Schools for their PreK3 programs?

I believe they can not reject a child due to not being potty trained (this info is old - but there were definitely kids in diapers in my child's class)

My 3yo was not potty trained when he entered PK3 in DCPS. However, his teacher did it in a week...she said she had done it many many times

This is correct, other than a few Montessori DCPCS, which state their potty training requirements upfront. Otherwise, there is generally no requirement. I’d highly suggest working on it before school starts, though.

(Also, I know this thread is old but hoping others can use it as a resource.)

Some parents are lazy at potty training

Do the 3 day training weekend

Every child is not the same
There are kids who learns quicky potty training before 2 years age and others learns later like 2, or 3 or 4.

CDC says 3 years old children usually learns efficiency potty training

Before disposable diapers, 95% of children were trained before age 2. It isn’t the children or child development that has changed. It is the convenience of disposable diapers and parents motivation to train.

I am not saying that is a bad thing but it isn’t that child readiness has changed.

most full day daycare/preschools with make you kid potty trained in a week or less if they are over 3. DCPS does this.

Just put the kid in training pants over Labor Day weekend and remind him to go potty regularly. Yes, he'll pee himself, but he'll get the negative feedback from being wet and learn. (The Oh Crap naked method didn't work for my kid because he wasn't upset about peeing on the floor). You can get it done this weekend.
