+1. And you know what, OP? I make great mashed potatoes and I like making mashed potatoes, but you do what you need and want to do to be comfortable and confident on Thanksgiving.

Bob Evans is great.

+2.

You won’t find anything that tastes better than Bob Evans (even wegman’s, even Balducci’s). Trust me.

Cream cheese?

YES! I use chive and onion cream cheese and it's delicious!

Do they use butter/cream or... margarine/oil, like all of their other crappy products?

I love that Bob Evans is a popular choice, because we have a restaurant near us & I never thought to try their potatoes. Thanksgiving will be a hospital affiar this year for my mom in rehab, so I'm happy to know she has a good spuds source.

Another poster agreeing with Bob Evans. You can get the plain ones and dress them up if you want to. Their sour cream and chive mashed potatoes are good, but pretty salty, but their garlic mashed potatoes are good.

This looks too rich. So much butter and half and half, plus a whole block of cream cheese?

You do know that recipes can be customized, right? It really would be OK to modify as you wish.

That said, it’s freaking Thanksgiving. Bring on one day of butter and cream.

I only use 1/4 of the cream cheese, and a bit less butter. I have a basic understanding of cooking, and this know that if a recipe looks “too rich,” I can modify it. Are you scared of disobeying recipes or something? Do you really lack imagination and confidence in the kitchen to this hapless degree?

Butter and cream. They are made fresh not frozen. They are in the refrigerator cases during the holidays. Go look, you will see.
