Changes grooming with age?

I had the bikini line lasered, which I love. Later, during the Sex and the City phase, I tried shaving the rest, but I really don't understand how people get a clean shave. I did Brazilians for awhile, but that was the only time in my life that I got UTIs. My female OB/GYN said that in many cases if you don't start young the body can't get used to the normal day-to-day bacteria that the hair protects from. (I also shower 2x/day, so maybe my body isn't used to dealing with regular day to day bacteria anyway??) Whatever the case, I have gone back to the patch. Though I did love the Brazilian.

Does it work? I’ve seen ads for some and have been intrigued. I always have a problem getting the, like, very upper thighs/groin area perfectly smooth when I’m shaving. Usually not a big deal but always annoying during pool season.

NP, this is why I wear long swim shorts (similar to biking shorts) - bathing suit it made for triathlons. I’m in my 50s so it’s not like the skin on my thighs looks good anyway, so why not have more cover and not worry about hair?

I don’t understand trimming with scissors - as in, I don’t really know why anyone would do that [it’s not a judgement, I’d be happy to be educated. I do understand shaving the bikini line and used to do that when I was younger. Almost always got painful red bumps.
