Talk to kids who go to the middle schools and high schools that this board loves to sh$t on about how many fights they see on a daily basis. Just because your kid goes to Langley doesn't mean other kids don't have to deal with it.

LHS has its own problems - the parents, for one: "but my Johnny is such a sweet boy!". Your sweet Johnny loses his sh&t and has his mother handle his life for him, see how much that has helped his hair trigger anger issues?

I'd take Johnny's issues over a brawl

Not when he is endangering fellow students and beating them up on a whim.

It seems really important to you to continue stirring the pot of fear and outrage. I get it — you’re a shill.

But there is no way in HELL we are putting Republican conservatives in charge of our public education. Nope.

Nice language.

This is the Schools forum, not the Political forum. Get ahold of yourself.

I want to thank OP for bringing this to my attention. You can not deny the CRT indoctrination in FCPS schools. FCPS teachers are turning public schools into SJW bootcamp.

So maybe take your racist partisan dog whistle threads to the political board.

Of course I can deny it. It’s complete horseshit. And don’t read the Daily Caller — it’s anti-American, right wing propaganda that will rot your brain.

Dr Reid sent out the email about restorative justice. You've really lost the plot.

Won't publish average SAT scores for each school; won't disclose current year racial/ethnic data at schools; pushes stupid "restorative justice" initiatives; and inflicts long-winded missives on others in FCPS while ignoring the real problems with academics, operations, and facilities. Get rid of this School Board and replace it with a new one that will get rid of HER.

Really??

Our minority kids are excelling in school. It makes me proud when that data is published.

How insulting to high achieving minority kids, and dare I say virtuously sanctimonious of FCPS to not publish that info.

Hi there! I am OP.

First, the words I posted are Dr. Reid’s; not mine. Dr. Reid sent it to me and every other parent in an update, just as she does every week.

Second, I asked what everyone thought of this, and you attack me? What is your problem??

My problem is with the timing of the thread and the partisan responses to it. Are you sock puppeting too?

It can be effective at resolving some kinds of conflict. Although in Maori cultures (from which it derives) it is often accompanied by a period of shunning.

Unfortunately, we have a miniscule Maori student population in FCPS.

Look, I am from an asian culture where honor/dishonor of your elders carries tremendous weight for encouraging good behavior in youth. But FCPS is not full of families from that background, so I would never expect effectiveness from them using a discipline method that simply tells the kids they have dishonored the family so go bow to grandma.

I mean, seriously, do these FCPS leaders get all their ideas from a university Mao inspired struggle session?

This is a VA Department of Education policy--they want to control the release of data. FCPS used to always do it.

Say you are not a Fairfax County resident or parent without outright saying that.

If you were a FCPS parent, you would have received the announcement from Reid stating how excited she is to switch FCPS to restorative justice consequences.

Are you even from Fairfax County?

From your post acting like OP just made up the email sent to all 170,000 FCPS families it appears clear that you are not from Ffx and are just a political troll or activist with no ties to the school system
